What is Pharmacy First?

Patients can now see a pharmacist first and do not need a GP appointment or a prescription to get advice and treatment for certain conditions.

It’s easy, you can just walk in!

You may also be referred by an NHS provider, like NHS 111, or your GP practice.

  • Treatment may be an over-the-counter medicine or prescription medication, depending on the clinical needs of the patient.
  • No appointment is needed.
  • Private consultation rooms are available for confidential discussions.
  • Please note: If you have prolonged or recurrent symptoms or skin discolouration, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, then you will need to contact your GP surgery.

Our dedicated team are here to treat those minor ailments that occur as well as providing specialist management of long-term conditions and clinics covering a wide range of healthcare issues.
Once registered, patients and healthcare professionals work together to ensure the most appropriate care is provided. This partnership philosophy extends even further and our active patient group exists to make sure that patients needs and the practice offering are always heading in the same direction.
The surgery has disabled access and toilet facilities, disabled parking space and an induction loop system in the waiting area. If you require assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

111 is the NHS non-emergency number. It’s fast, easy and free. Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999.

Extra evening and weekend appointments available in local area.

You can book routine GP and Nurse or HCA appointments in the evening, at weekends and over bank holidays, either telephone or face to face appointments.

These appointments are pre-bookable appointments and are available Monday-Friday, 4pm-8pm, plus weekends and bank holidays.

To book your appointment, contact the surgery during normal opening hours. Please be aware that the appointment may take place at another GP Practice in the area or in the town centre.

If you need urgent medical advice when the surgery is closed, you should continue to call NHS 111.
